Nice piece! You did an excellent job detailing the course and various important tips. I’d include don’t quit* and listen to the discourses carefully (plus a couple other things). I wrote a smilier piece but I won’t link it — not trying to be spammy.

Also, point of feedback. Goenka’s English is pretty perfect to be honest. I did appreciate your detailed translations. I think they are helpful, but he chooses his words wisely. He is vague and detailed at the same time. His words and the practice touch people in various ways. It’s important for the listener to make sense of his lessons, combined with the practice. It’s very individual and changes overtime as we deepen our practice. I know students who have listen to his discourses over 20+ times and feel like they are learning new things from his talks.

*Don’t quite — while not everyone becomes a devoted Vipassana meditator, it’s rare to meet someone who feels it was a waste of time. So see it through :)
